These in-depth evaluations uncover people's unique ways of thinking and feeling, their motivations, ways of coping and defending against painful emotions, and attachment and relationship patterns. This information goes beyond just an accurate diagnosis. A comprehensive picture of you is developed and a path forward outlined.
Reports are written specifically to enhance psychotherapy effectiveness and therapist-patient rapport and gain diagnostic clarity to support psychotropic medication prescribing. Some undergo an evaluation Simply because they feel "bad" and don't know why.
I aim to make psychological testing and evaluation highly comfortable, collaborative, and informative.

I see patients ages 16+. Therapy is based on a strong, empathic, focused relationship between you and I. It won't be effective simply because I'm a psychologist and you're a person seeking help; thus, our initial task is to spend a bit of time deciding if we're the right fit together.
Before meeting with any therapist, including me, I suggest reading my blog on choosing a mental health clini
Being a psychotherapist is hard. There are few things more complex than the patient sitting in front of you, and we ourselves are equally complex. As a consultant, I aim to support therapists in navigating the nuance of therapy to make your clinical practice more effective and successful.

Being a psychotherapist is hard. There are few things more complex than the patient sitting in front of you, and we ourselves are equally complex. As a consultant, I aim to support therapists in navigating the nuance of therapy to make your clinical practice more effective and successful.
This can involve enhancing your self-understanding and how your internal world influences that of the patient (countertransference, essentially). At other times, getting more "up to speed" in an area is required, perhaps in the case of a psychological condition you know little about. Or you might be facing a challenging ethical quandary.
Ultimately, settling something unresolved within the therapist, clarifying a patient's difficulties (often in the form of specific personality characteristics), and identifying effective technical approaches is where we arrive.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been such a stressful time. So many people are faced with life transitions that they did not expect. Finally addressing issues that were pushed away for years and accompanied by an overwhelming feeling of stress; this is indeed a mental health pandemic. The amount of people who are reaching out to therapists has skyrocketed in the last year. You are not alone in realizing that therapy isn’t only an option but possibly a necessity. It’s more needed now than ever, and being able to recognize that is the first step towards living your best life free of the baggage of your past and problems.
Through active and committed participation in therapy, I help my clients recognize their problems and work with them to implement effective solutions. I identify patterns in my client’s life where they continually run into the same issues and apply the same answer that never has worked and, perhaps, never will. By addressing these unhealthy patterns, I foster behavioral and cognitive changes so clients can live life consciously and intentionally instead of living a life driven by unconscious reactions.
I am a graduate of Wayne State University’s Counseling Psychology Master’s program, and I offer individual, couples, and family therapy. The issues that I help my clients with are anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, family conflict, conflict resolution, spirituality, existential issues, and LGBTQIA issues. I use theoretical approaches of Imago therapy and psychodynamic therapy, which focus on an individual’s upbringing and primary relationships early in life, along with a solution-focused Cognitive-Behavioral approach. I also utilize psycho-education so that my clients learn how to help themselves and are not solely dependent on the therapist for change.
I can accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and dedicate a portion of my practice to people in need of reduced-fee or pro bono services. I speak English and Spanish
I have my PhD in International Psychology and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, which gives me a unique approach to psychodiagnostic assessment, psychoeducational testing, and psychotherapy. I specialize in utilizing a holistic approach to evaluations and therapy, including taking into account one’s life experiences, background, and cultural influences on symptom presentation and treatment.
I employ psychodynamic psychotherapy, or talk therapy, to help you build a compassionate awareness and understanding of your thoughts and feelings. This awareness and understanding helps identify unconscious patterns and gets at “the roots” of symptoms. This approach helps people feel more in control, balanced, and self-compassionate. My goal is to help you identify and express emotions to help tackle any difficulties you may be experiencing.
I believe that mental health is an integral part of overall health. Though there is often a stigma attached to seeking support for mental health concerns, in reality seeing a therapist is no different than seeing a physician. In my opinion, seeking mental health support is simply one part of ensuring one's holistic wellness.
Though people seek therapy for a variety of reasons, the common theme is their hope for future improvement, growth, and happiness. The relationship between the client and therapist is an important tool that can facilitate these positive changes. Through our therapeutic relationship, we will discuss the goals you hope to achieve in therapy, explore how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, build fundamental coping skills, and focus on a strengths-based approach, which acknowledges that, even when people are struggling, they already have many strengths which helped get them where they are today and can help them get where they want to go.
As a clinical and educational psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with people from diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. I acknowledge, respect, and value each individual's culture, gender, race, religion, and sexual identity, and my goal is to create an open therapeutic relationship in which each of my clients feels accepted. By providing a supportive environment in which my clients can work towards their desired goals, I seek to help them bridge the gap between where they are now and where they want to be.
If you could run away you would. Things are overwhelming. Almost nothing is going right. You don't know which direction to choose and you feel stuck. If only you knew how to escape the same unhealthy patterns that you're trapped in...If only you knew what to say...If only you knew when to say it...If only you knew what to do and when to do it...If only you knew how to peel yourself off of life's boot you might be able to really accomplish the dreams you once had. Those hopes and childhood dreams are not as far as you once thought.
Everyone needs a mentor, a guide, a coach to help show them the way to become who they always hoped they could be, the person they always wanted to become. Depression doesn't have to weigh you down any longer. Anxiety doesn't have to force you into doing something you don't want. Confusion doesn't have to rule your life. I can help you know how to overcome.
Unlike many therapists who give some trite advice for things they never experienced I have dealt with many of the same challenges, but I learned to overcome them with the right guide. I'll help guide you into the same joy and freedom that I've found.
Are you scared, fearful, and isolated from everyone? Are you feeling lost, unable to eat or sleep? Do you struggle with trust, intimacy, or expressing your emotions? Have you tried to solve the problems in your life on your own and realized you need help from someone else?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you have made the right choice by being here. And I know this is hard. You've likely been debating seeking help for months, if not years. But I'm so glad you found me and have taken the courageous step of being here. I'm confident that together we can work to help equip you with the necessary tools to help you face and overcome these challenges. Whether you're struggling with Anxiety, Marital Issues, Infidelity, Sexual Problems, or Depression, you must know you don't have to be alone on this journey. I have the experience to help you achieve your goals, overcome these struggles, and live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
I understand no two individuals are the same, and I tailor our sessions together to address challenges unique to you. We will work together to understand the root cause of your struggles and address those issues with long-lasting strategies, helping you get closer to the life you've always wanted. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Clinical Supervisor. I have worked with individuals, families, couples, and co-facilitated groups and practiced in various settings such as outpatient, in-home, day treatments, and private practice. I'm culturally experienced in Singapore, Shanghai, and Nice, Fr. and licensed in five states: Minnesota, Kansas, Indiana, Texas, Ohio, and Michigan.
I can help you navigate the challenges of life. For example, you might be in emotional pain, or even in a good spot, and want to move to a better place. Whatever your unique desires, I can help you transition to where you want to progress in therapy. I have endured challenges myself and have found peace.
I have helped many people in pain from anxiety, depression, medical illness, and a wide variety of different challenges. Whatever it is, these varied experiences have taught me many ways that I can help you!
